The University Originate is the major originate tennis tournament in Brisbane. However there is more to the Club than fair fixtures. There are also been a number of tournaments and social events organized throughout the year. This includes matches where the requisite number of sets have not been completed, matches that are nearly finished, and matches that are evenly placed. If a team cannot put a player on the court within 15 minutes of the start of a match, then the first set is forfeited to the donate team. If you have not played for the HQ Tennis Club earlier you will have to arrive to a grading session. This ensures that teams are made up with players of same standard and makes play more enjoyable for all. If you feel you have improved after some time, you can always come to another grading. Players nominating for Fixtures are making a commitment to play competition Tennis for the HQ Tennis Club for the total season. Grade standards can vary markedly from season to season depending on the number of teams. It is very hard to move players once teams have been finalized as a player cannot be moved up to a higher grade team without somebody from that team being demoted. Along with the information about teams and draws, teams will be given a number of times to accumulate their season's supply of balls from the Clubhouse. Team captains have to ensure that somebody in the team has a set of balls for each away match and a result card for home matches. As the other Fixtures are Brisbane competitions, half the matches in these competitions are played on the team's home court at HQ but the other half are played on the opponents' home courts which could be anywhere in Brisbane. Because there are so many HQ teams, it would be uncommon for a team to be in a grade in which there were not a few other HQ teams. All courts for the season are booked by the Club. Do I have to pay anything each time I play a Fixture match? The Draw is constructed so that when one team has a home match, the other team has an away match. If a team has an away bye, the other team has a match on the court.
