Queensland Corrective Services aims to produce stakeholders, private providers and other Government agencies with easy to find information about the Department and its management. So, while we operate correctional centers, district offices and reporting centers across the State, we are actively occupied on integrating our offender management systems to ensure that all offenders are provided with appropriate classification and supervision as healthy as programs, education and vocational training that will maximize their chance to reintegrate successfully into society when they are released. The department continues its potent commitment to equity and cultural diversity. The Act is based on the principles of providing for the safe and humane containment, supervision and rehabilitation of prisoners and ensuring the safety of the community and the staff who work in the correctional system. The Queensland Parole Board considers parole matters for offenders in all centers and parole regions sentenced to a period of eight years or more. The Parole Boards role is to determine whether eligible offenders are suitable for supervised released into the community. Eligible persons are not advised when a prisoner has made an application for particular circumstances parole. Behavioural reports relating to the offender and. The Register works with the assistance of other parts of Queensland Corrective Services to inform eligible persons about important events in the sentences of those prisoners offenders who have offended against them. There is no provision in the Corrective Services Act (2006) for an eligible person to be provided an opportunity to make a submission to the Parole Board in the event that a prisoner makes an application for particular circumstances parole. As portion of the Q150 celebrations, corrective services takes a look at the history of corrections in Queensland. Where tobacco or other smoking related products are in the possession of a visitor when entering the grounds of a corrective services facility they must either be secured in the visitor's motor vehicle or a visitors' locker. Why are corrective services facilities becoming tobacco and smoke free? Given the adverse effects of smoking on smokers and nonsmokers, JCS has decided to implement tobacco and smoke release corrective services facilities. Introduction of tobacco and smoke release corrective services facilities will result in direct and significant improvements in the health and well being of all staff, prisoners and visitors to a corrective services facility who smoke and for nonsmokers who will no longer be exposed to EST. This ensures that all offenders are qualified to address offending behavior by starting rehabilitation programs according to assessed risk and completing the programs under parole conditions. Development work is continuing however, to determine how the Agency can best confront the intervention needs of sexual offenders while keeping the community safe. In addition, the Sexual Offending Maintenance Program has been developed to ensure an offender's risk to the community does not escalate and to facilitate a slick reintegration upon release from custody. Prisoners are managed according to their assessed security classification and exceptional needs with the provision of opportunities for rehabilitation through participation in education, work, vocational training, and programs designed to address offending behavior. Prisoners are encouraged to flourish increased levels of self responsibility and, as in tall security centers, opportunities are provided for their participation in education, work, vocational training and programs. The Work Program is one of the most prosperous prisoner rehabilitation programs in Queensland, injecting around 2.5 million a year into regional Queensland. Queensland Corrective Services maintain safe and secure facilities for in excess of 700 prisoners, staff and visitors in a complex and difficult environment. org
