The queensland art gallery and gallery of modern art is queensland's premier creative arts viewing space. The location of the gallery was changed in 1982 and further renovated to architectural acclaim in 2006 to become the art gallery of queensland and the gallery of modern art. Located on brisbane's south bank, this is your ultimate destination for everything art, contemporary and classical. Since 1895, as the queensland art gallery has been connecting art and people.

The establishment of the Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art (APT) in 1993 forged a focus on artwork of the region, and as an ongoing exhibition series the APT created a case for a second building to display growing contemporary collections. The Gallery of Modern Art opened in 2006, creating a two campus institution. The Trustees' children's clever art class commence, with artist Aida Lacey as the first tutor. Training programs start for volunteer guides in preparation for the opening of bag in its fresh enduring home at South Bank. Construction commences on the Gallery of New Art. Lindsay and Kerry Clare, architect's statement. Since 1993, the APT series has drawn more than three million visitors with its unique combine of visual spectacle and irritable cultural insight. The APT has aspiring the Gallery's focus on the region and enabled the development of one of the world's most significant collections of contemporary Asian and Pacific art. Our vision is to be the leading institution for the contemporary art of Australia, Asia and the Pacific. We are home to the Children's Art center which collaborates on interactive artworks with leading artists from around the world, and the Australian Cinmathque, the only dedicated cinema facility in an Australian art museum. QAGOMA operates its own retail outlets and cafes and restaurants, proceeds from which urge the Gallery. Ms Gina Fairfax is a Trustee of the Tim Fairfax Family Foundation and an support for access to arts and education in rural, regional and remote communities. Ms Fiona Foley is a Queensland artist whose work is represented in private and public collections nationally and internationally. More information about QAGOMA's organizational structure and management can be found in the Gallery's annual reports. QAGOMA, in conjunction with the Brisbane Consortium for the Visual Arts (BC VA), also offers a further three BC VA Scholarships to facilitate PD research in a range of visual arts categories. The inaugural scholarship was awarded to video art researcher Matthew Perkins. During his scholarship, he also curated 'Resistance: Peter Kennedy' for the Australian Experimental Art Base in Adelaide and completed a series of interviews with artists and curators that are instrumental to his research. The BC VA is now offering three PhD scholarships for research in the visual arts in these key areas.
