The port office hotel has been in existence for many years - it is a unique inner city location in which the heritage of the port office hotel combined with its modern polished, quirky and classic furnishings makes it a must visit venue. Originally housing the department of harbours and marine, the latest renovations being completed in early 2009, the venue has undergone extensive refurbishment, and is one of the oldest buildings in brisbane. Renowned for its versatility, social club parties, working lunches, wedding receptions, marble bar and liber lounge upstairs on level 1. The port office also has private dining rooms available and an abundance of function facilities - catering for corporate events, and several bars including fix wine bar & cellar, the port office consists of several individual and unique areas - an award winning restaurant - fix, christmas events and more. The port office hotel over the years has become a popular and unique inner city dining and entertainment location. Located in the heart of the cbd, it is close to many other hotels and nearby accommodation as well as all forms of public transport.

Boasting a menu bursting with new seasonal gastropub food ranging from steaks and seafood to rotisserie chicken duck to an exciting new Nose to Tail selection. Encompassing the top floor of the hotel, including wraparound verandas, the entire space has been re imagined to join light and space in a sophisticated yet relaxed atmosphere. The total space can be divided into three main function areas, available for private bookings each day of the week. After undergoing extensive renovations the Fore Prohibit (previously called the Marble Bar) has been transformed into an old school style timber lengthy bar and is the accurate deposit to whet your whistle and tell a few yarns. In 188 the remodeled hotel was described as being extremely commodious, containing (besides public and private bars and an beautiful club room) fifteen bedrooms, a drawing room, two bath rooms and four public rooms on the ground floor. The hotel was patronized by workers from nearby shipping and industrial and riverside businesses. In 1955 the hotel was refurbished below the direction of architect Francis Leo Cullen. The rendered brickwork is ascribed to imitate stonework and has bays separated by rendered quoins while a number of the window openings have stone sills. A cantilevered awning dominates the street facades. A separate store with a hipped roof, filling in the L shape plan to create a rectangle, has been incorporated into the structure. Internally some of the premature timber doors, architraves, and skirting survive but otherwise the majority including the stair has been altered in various refurbishments since the 1950s. The place is urgent because of its aesthetic significance.
