M. Music Therapy, A. Mus. A (Piano), Hon I), B. Music (Performance, Dip. Business Admin. Theory lessons may be given to students who are preparing for an exam, or for those who want to catch up to their practical skills or enhance their understanding of music. Preparation for AMEB examinations is encouraged.
Music theory lessons enable students to learn how to read and write music and understand the principles of harmony, rhythm and musical form. Children and adults are welcome. Lessons are individualised to the student’s musical taste, ability and learning style. Theory is incorporated into the piano lesson, or alternatively, may be offered as a separate lesson (see below). Learn for fun or for AMEB examinations (which can also be fun!).
Kristie conducts piano lessons in a comfortable home studio at Drewvale on Brisbane's south side.

Group music therapy charges are negotiable, depending on numbers. An additional fee may be charged for extensive travel. Group sessions may be held at the facility in which the clients reside or another place as decided by both parties.
Music therapy sessions for individuals may be held in the RMT’s home or the client’s home.

RMTs work with various children, adolescent and adult populations including:. However, as everyone responds to the universal language of music, music therapy stands out as an alternative treatment option to these therapies, which serves as a motivator for change.
Registered Music Therapists (RMTs) operate in similar ways to psychologists, occupational therapists and speech therapists, physiotherapists, often working alongside them within a multi-disciplinary team. No musical ability is needed for individuals or groups to experience the benefits of music therapy.
Music therapy is a growing allied health profession that targets improvement in physical, emotional, psychosocial and cognitive health.
MUSIC THERAPY. Furthermore, she is available as a recording session musician and an accompanist for exams, concerts or recording sessions.
Kristie also loves to share her musical passion, knowledge and experience with children and adults during individualised piano and theory lessons. Her special interests include speech and movement in children with disabilities, and memory and communication in older adults with dementia. She has music therapy experience in special education, older adults with dementia, adult brain injuries, adolescent behavioural disorders, and palliative care.
In 2009, Kristie graduated with a Master of Music Therapy, and is a Registered Music Therapist (RMT). She has appeared as a soloist with the UQ Symphony Orchestra, and has recorded for television and audio albums. She holds a Bachelor of Music in piano performance with First Class Honours, along with the University of Queensland medal for outstanding academic excellence.
Kristie has been playing the piano for over 20 years and enjoys regular performances as a soloist, accompanist and chamber musician, both within Australia and internationally. (more).
