By the mid1960’s, the glass business had expanded into wholesale and contracting operations while the manufacture of aluminum joinery commenced with the procurement of custom extrusions from US and then later Australian producers. As the product range expanded, a small network of branches was established and fabrication facilities were increased. In 1979, the decision was made to commission G.James Extrusion Co Pt Ltd in Brisbane to operate extrusion and surface finishing facilities to service not only G.James’ own internal requirements but also offer extrusions to the general market place. Further manufacturing expansion began in 1994 with a glass laminating factory in Johor, Malaysia, continuing with the opening of a sales office in Auckland, Fresh Zealand in 1995 installations of an GU line and reflective coating (offline) plant at Eagle Farm in 1998 commissions of an GU line in Melbourne in 199, glass toughening furnace extrusion press began operations in Sydney in 199 and glass toughening furnace at the Johor factory in 199. Glass waste is collected and recycled for use in paint additives, blasting mediums and float glass manufacture. PVC extrusion waste is recycled onside to produce new extrusions. Cooling towers, located within G.James' own finishing plants, operate under than the EPA water consumption guidelines. The commissioning of a fresh thermal fracture line will permit G.James to supply extrusions for use in energy efficient aluminum windows and doors. These units are recognized as a critical component in the manufacture of energy efficient windows and doors.
