Dena Design is a boutique furniture design, manufacturing and consultancy workshop based in Brisbane, Australia. A family business built on the tradition of furniture craft, we design and manufacture furniture for commercial and residential interiors, and provide furniture consultancy and restoration services. With our 90 combined experience in furniture and interiors we support excellence in all aspects of furniture design, manufacturing and after sales service, and strive to be a leader in urge services for architects and designers. We encourage a collaborative approach to design, seeking lengthy term professional partnerships within the architecture and design community, with those that share our values of design integrity and manufacturing quality. For considerable years now we have been occupied in a incredible clever community of Fiskars in Finland during summer, promoting our furniture for the European market, with customers in Finland, England and Switzerland. As we look to 2017 we decided to strengthen the bonds with long term Brisbane collaborators Luxxbox by joining their ingenious community at their workshop in Eagle Farm. Being lower the equivalent roof with their design team and fully equipped workshop allows Lassa and Helena's extensive skills to be put to good use on some exciting collaborations in the future. We maintain our own custom design and manufacture capabilities, continuing to bear furniture design, manufacturing and restoration services to the design community and the public, both in Australia and in Finland. During this time he worked with antiques and fresh furniture and learn the traditional skills of woodworking, french polishing, restoration, upholstery and furniture making. A move to Australia led to the start of a furniture manufacturing and restoration company with wife Helena, which has evolved and expanded with the years of experience to Dena Design, a whole furniture design, manufacturing and consultancy company. Her hand son knowledge of fabrics, leathers, pattern making, sewing and upholstery complement Lassa’s skills, together developing Dena Design’s evolving collection of furniture and custom furniture pieces for clients. Helena’s management of client projects ensure that each project is of high quality, is delivered within budget and on time. Nora Kinnunen graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (Mach) and began her career as an aeronautical design engineer designing structural modifications and repairs for helicopters and fixed wing aircraft. Succeeding the completion of a Master of Engineering Management, Nora’s work expanded into project management of Army Aviation projects, course instruction and writing of affectionate responses and regulatory standards. Latter the move to her family’s furniture company in 200, Nora’s cranky disciplinary approach to design has included all aspects of furniture design, client consultation, retail and project management, and exploration of broad sustainability issues in the interiors' industry. Since completing a Master of Design Futures in 2010 she has worked in trans disciplinary teams on projects in the fields of craft, climate change adaptation and architecture, and is a sessional academic and researcher at Queensland University of Technology, School of Design. She is currently a PhD Candidate at UT, School of Design, researching the relationship between craft practice and the business environment in a regional community. Since completing a Master of Design Futures her recent labor has included urban design and climate change adaptation projects, and researching the potential agency of craft within a sustainable material culture. Her research topic, based on her passion for craft practice, is an investigation of the relationship between craft practice and economic life, and the role that craft can play in sustainable futures.
