The Brisbane Club is one of Brisbane's pioneer clubs established in 1903 and is situated in the heart of the CAD in a contemporary setting in the Brisbane Club Tower. This setting typifies its unique niche in being a progressive contemporary club whilst being aware of its customary heritage. The Brisbane Club offers a home away from home and as such provides a refuge from the hustle and bustle in the midst of a modern, growing city. It was an absolute pastime to be involved with The Brisbane Club. I thoroughly enjoyed talking to you and the members and it was pretty to have some many well established fans of our wines and perhaps a few new admirers. There was a riches of knowledge with regards to our wines and the industry in general and the entire event was so professionally run it was a delight from start to finish. Upholding a tradition of excellence since 1903, The Brisbane Club presents a rich history in the social fabric of the City. Over 100 years ago a group of friends in commerce and the professions gathered together to establish their own club The Brisbane Club. Many mergers later, it became the National Australia Bank which is quiet one of the Club's banks today. The Club had two temporary homes prior its establishment in Adelaide Street in 1916. Whilst insignificant is obvious of the Club's activities during the Second World War, it gave generously to various Patriotic Funds and made its facilities available for any function which would help the war effort. Queensland Newspapers eventually occupied maximum of the premises except for the second floor which was leased back on a long term lease to the Club. The Club rooms were high and dry but the basement which housed the Club's extensive wine cellar was wholly submerged. The principal elements of the coatofarms are the Stafford Knot, five pointed stars, the crest, shields, helmet and motto all with relevance to the Club and the State of Queensland. In the hasty 1980's, Brisbane was in the midst of a decade of development high rise buildings were soon to cluster the city, particularly in Queen and Adelaide Streets. Over the years the Club has eternal taken a leadership role within the business community. The Principal Committee is responsible for the overall governance of the Club and is calm of some of Brisbane's leading professional executives and business owners bringing a balance of skills and experience to the Board table.
