ABC Group Architects’ photographer Olivia Thomas was a finalist in the Institute of Architects Shoot the Architect’ photographic competition, with an action shot of her daughter Piper jumping for ecstasy from a sand pit designed and built by Dennis blitz, her grandfather. These facilities are obvious as wellness centers. The key component of the center is a central pavilion containing the Entry and Circulation facilities in a relaxing environment where plants, water and people may interact. Accessed from the central pavilion, on both sides, are the PODS’ which may be extended over time, as each activity or community need changes as the locality matures. The respite center offers facilities to ensure that the users are provided with a high level, quality day protection environment to hinder the early admission of the elderly to more enduring concern facilities. The project had to address the latter short requirements: Improve the partially paved and landscaped outdoor staff pleasure areas between the Edison and Tesla buildings at the Powerlink Queensland complicated at Virginia, Brisbane, with shade structures and umbrellas, and fresh monolithic paving.
