Each year students participate in activities such as: The School’s Community Service programmed is an integral piece of its service activities and results in several opportunities for students to interact with the community at large. Building on the foundations laid in Years 7 to 9, Year 10 aims to address the needs of our young men as they prepare for their last years of lesser schooling. Learning Urge teachers in the Senior School do not withdraw students from class rather they labor alongside classroom teachers if there is a lofty smooth of student need. There is a powerful emphasis in the Senior School in providing opportunities for learning to be supported at different times of the day. Churchie’s wealthy history and longstanding traditions date back to 1912 when William Perry French Morris founded the School at Toowong, before relocating to the donate site in East Brisbane in 1918. Canon Morris based the School’s ethos on the patron saint, St Magus, a Viking Earl known for his Viking strength of character and his qualities as an educated man with a Christian nature. Year 9 personal development and leadership. 'Everyone can be immense because everyone can serve.'. Churchie has a powerful commitment to Service, both on campus and in the wider community. This commitment aims to strengthen every student's sense of responsibility, whilst fostering community interaction and the gratitude of cultural diversity. The benefits associated with participation in community service are healthy researched, citing psychological, social and cognitive advantages. An amplify in definite feelings, greater communication and cooperative skills, and problem solving and critical thinking skills when dealing with exposure to difficult situations, are also transferable to classroom learning situations. Students are also involved in transformational service initiatives including: overseas service workshops and tours to encourage awareness of disadvantaged communities occupied with parents from the School community delivering Meals on Wheels to senior citizens attending exceptional needs schools and participating in intensive activities such as the Sony Bottom Camp hosted at Churchie. In the Preparatory School, boys participate in a series of activities held during Service Week, to raise funds for local and international charities, as well as to sponsor children overseas in association with World Vision. Even though Benjamin is tranquil in lofty school, he has a longer list of philanthropic endeavors than most adults. In the previous two years, Benjamin has raised more than 13,00 for various charities. Over the end abundant years Churchie boys have raised healthy in surplus of 1 million for more than 140 charities. A year in the planning students spent hours running sausage sizzles, washing cars and organizing trivia nights to elevate money for equipment, materials and the expert work required to entire the trip’s project a greenhouse. The other group carted more than 100 mud bricks weighing 10 kilograms each to the construction site, where they then laid them below the watchful eyes of locals. Seeing the joy on the faces of the villagers as the greenhouse was completed was humbling. At Churchie, the route to leadership is defined through service, or servant leadership. In the Boarding School at all year levels, community service is emphasized. The position of house prefect’ exists within the School only in the boarding houses.
